This class was, like all the other classes I have taken from Nihongodekita, excellent.
We learned new and useful ways of communicating in Japanese. And as always, it is simply a lot of fun to be in one of Sayaka-san’s led classes. I am very grateful to all of the teachers whose kindness and desire to help us learn the language is truly impressive.

I took both the 104 and the brand-new 201 courses with Nihongodekita, and the results speak for themselves. After 14 weeks of live, two-hour sessions—packed with breakout-room drills, rapid-fire Q & A, and detailed feedback—I can navigate everyday situations in Japanese: ordering food, asking for help, even light banter with friends. The format forces you to use grammar and vocabulary the minute you hear it, which locks the material in far faster than textbook study alone.
What really separates Nihongodekita is structure and support. Classes cap at around two dozen students, yet three or four teachers circulate, correct, and encourage in real time. Weekly speaking homework gets personalized video feedback, and office hours are genuinely useful. If you’ve finished Genki I and want to move past “tourist phrases” into natural, flowing conversation, this course is worth every penny. I’m already waiting for the next level course—and have already traveled in Japan this year without defaulting to English.

This class was extremely helpful for me in improving my Japanese. We learned a bunch of new Kanji, new conjugations that I use almost on a daily basis, and a ton of vocabulary. Sayaka Sensei’s classes have made me so confident in my ability to speak Japanese that I moved to Japan with no hesitation. Some of my classmates and I have passed a JLPT test after taking courses with Nihongodekita and are confident speaking Japanese with each other. I still have plenty to learn, but I’m really looking forward to the next course offering once it is out!

I took this class, gave it my all and my Japanese has gradually improved! In this class, studying Japanese is fun and your understanding of Japanese will deepen; thus, I truly recommend it! If you participate in 201, you will definitely gain confidence.
The Nihongo Dekita teachers are friendly people and amazing teachers!!

I’ve taken Nihongodekita classes 103 – 201. I’ve tried many different Japanese classes but Sayaka + Team are number one. It’s difficult, but they make it fun! I learned new kanji, grammar, and practiced speaking in every class. I recommend this class to anyone who wants to seriously study Japanese, but in a friendly environment!

I was SO happy when I saw that the 201 course was announced! For context, I began taking courses with NihongoDekita when it initially launched in 2022 (starting in 102). For the first time, I genuinely grasped speaking in Japanese and it made me feel fulfilled and happy to finally be able to connect with my Obachan in her native language. After completing 104, there were about two years in which 201 was being developed, and I sought out language learning from other programs. After that time, I can honestly say, after experiencing other Japanese language programs, there is not one better than NihongoDekita.
Here are my favorite things about learning with NihongoDekita in 201 (and in general):
Sayaka and everyone involved cater to an encouraging environment and never make you feel bad when making mistakes or if you do not understand something. I find this super important because it is easy to become discouraged when learning a new language. It feels as if the teachers personally want to see you succeed and I am so touched by that.
The course offers much needed structure and holds me accountable! I personally get overwhelmed trying to figure out what to focus on, but with NihongoDekita, there is always a plan! I can focus on learning topics selected for class and worry less on where to begin when wanting to learn more Japanese.
Lots of resources you always have access to (including class recordings if you are unable to attend)! I am a visual learner and other programs did not always offer materials so it was difficult for me to retain what I learned in class. NihongoDekita really goes above and beyond to specifically cater to the learning needs of all students in the course. It felt like all the teachers looked at everything from homework, to how students spoke in class, and then brought additional focus to topics when it was needed. They also offer personalized feedback on each assignment submitted as well.
Lots of practice inside and outside of class. This one is super important to me! I do not live in a place that has many people that I can practice Japanese with, so having conversation practice with other students that are similar level as me makes for a more comfortable place to really put what was learned in class into practice.
Making friends! It is so amazing that I have been able to make many great friends through this course (and others previously). This course has a way of connecting you with people all around the world, some of which I have gotten to meet in person. This means you will have so many more people to encourage you, practice with, and support you in your journey!
201 was the first course that I have taken that has allowed me to express my thoughts and feelings for the first time (something I have always desired when speaking Japanese). This felt like a really big breakthrough for me in my Japanese learning journey. While this course does still focus on a new grammar, it also focuses a lot on expression and the nuance of the language itself. I find this extremely helpful since in English some phrasing might be acceptable while in Japanese that same phrasing may not. 201 really is the first step to leveling up your expressive Japanese!
There are so many good things to say about 201, I could probably go on and on but I will leave you with this. I can see all the effort and planning that was put into 201 and it was worth waiting two years for. I will gladly wait for 202 because I truly believe in what these courses have to offer. It is funny that one day, I was scrolling through Instagram, wanting to learn Japanese and trying to find a direction to go in, then I found NihongoDekita. Now I can read, write, and speak Japanese, something I thought I was not capable of. I am excited to take what I learned in 201, go back to Japan and be able to speak more freely with family there. I continue to grow more and more confident with each course and I cannot wait to learn more very soon!

I really enjoy these nihongodekita classes. A couple years ago I started with Jpn101 and I have continued to take them at each level. I feel like Jpn201 unlocked a new level for me and my fellow classmates. Just after a few weeks, I could really tell that everybody was starting to complete much more complicated sentences. By the end of the class, it really felt like a big level up in our ability to express ourselves. We were having deeper conversations, talking in more detail about our past experiences and our hopes for the future. And we were also learning more about how to pick up the context or (空気を読む) which is super important if you want to become more fluent.
This journey with nihongodekita has been a really rewarding experience for me. I’ve had a lot of fun taking the classes and I’ve seen a massive improvement in my ability to speak and understand Japanese. It gave me the confidence to take a 60-day solo trip in Japan. I can’t tell you how much it helped me on that trip. These classes give you so much speaking practice that you are well prepared to talk with natives in japan. It has given me a lot of confidence and I even made a lot of Japanese friends by being able to speak Japanese with them. I’m still in touch with these friends and even made a 2nd trip to Japan to see them. They all have been amazed at my improvement in such a short amount of time.
Sayaka and her team of sensei’s (Yuya, Jumpei, and Momoka) are amazing. They are great at what they do and they really find a lot of different ways to make the learning fun. You can tell they care about their students as they are always encouraging us on. They provide the structure to learn but also give you the flexibility to build on what you already know as well. I also like that the hw and weekly classes keep me accountable. It helps me continue studying and learning japanese. Otherwise, I personally have a hard time staying focused and staying motivated. If you want to improve your Japanese and be able to express your thoughts and feelings in more depth, then I would highly recommend this intermediate level Jpn201 course.

If you are looking to take your Japanese studies to the next level, I highly recommend the Japanese 201 course by Nihongo Dekita. I greatly improved my Japanese skills through the 201 course and I have previously taken the 102, 103, and 104 courses.
Sayaka Sensei and the rest of the teaching team are always friendly and helpful. The teachers are consistently available for questions and they offer personalized, meaningful feedback on coursework. In my opinion, this personal touch is what sets Nihongo Dekita courses apart from other methods of learning Japanese.
Moreover, I enjoyed being able to practice speaking, listening, writing, and reading through the different assignments available in class. I also appreciated the sense of community created through the course with classmates.

I’ve taken NihongoDekita from 102 up through 201 at this point, but I’ll note that I wasn’t initially sure whether an online Japanese class would be worth the investment. It took some reflection to admit that I’d spent several years casually studying Japanese on and off with the use of various apps and resources, but hadn’t made the kind of headway I was looking for. I needed further structure, routine, the tutelage of native speakers and a group with whom to share my goals and challenges.
I won’t bury the lead here, I can absolutely vouch for Sayaka, Junpei, Yuya and Momoka. They’re a wonderful, patient, experienced and dedicated crew of teachers. They make good on their promises and then some. The question you’ll have to ask yourself if you’re interested in taking this course is whether you have the bandwidth to commit to the process. I’ve improved significantly thanks to my work with NihongoDekita, but it hasn’t come without its share of personal setbacks. Learning a language is difficult work, sometimes even a little demoralizing. You’ll naturally adapt to certain rules while struggling to grasp others. Juggling new vocabulary and grammar while maintaining everything you’ve learned week after week can become overwhelming. But if you give NihongoDekita your attention and make the most of the resources they offer, you’ll see just how rewarding it can be to broaden your horizons and embrace the unique perspective that Japanese can provide. Sayaka and co. certainly lighten the load with fun, engaging exercises and coursework, just know that your improvement will always come down to your own personal motivation and consistency. I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking to deepen their study of the language with further guidance and community.
